In this and the photo below,
a juvenile Fork-tailed Flycatcher
in Morrisville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Photographed on June 5, 2006.
In the photo below, note the yellow in the crown.
Fork-tailed Flycatchers are normally
in South & Central America.

This Western Grebe, found on May 28, 2006
on the Delaware River by the Battery Park in New Castle, Delaware,
was the first recorded in the state since 1972.
(This, and the following photograph, by Chuck Brandt)

A flagged Red Knot along the Delaware Bayshore in Delaware
In the spring of 2006.
The Delaware Bay Shorebird Teams (from DE & NJ) having been putting
lime green flags (as in the photo above)
on shorebirds (including Knots) since 2003.

In another photograph of a banded Red Knot
taken along the Delaware Bayshore in Delaware in 2006,
the bird is seen to have a red band on one leg, and a yellow on the other.
(photograph by Howard Eskin)

Unless such a bird has a flag,
the only way to know where the bird was banded would be to get the number.
With flagged birds, it's generally fairly easy:
Dark Green, in the United States
Orange, in Argentina,
Red, in Chile
Blue, in Brazil,
White, in Canada,
Black, in Venezuela,
and Light Green in Surinam.
Also, this past winter ('05-'06), lime tags were put on birds in Florida,
with a blue band on the opposite leg.

On May 29, 2006, there were flocks of Semipalmated Sandpipers
along the Delaware Bay.
These, and the birds in the next few photos, were at Port Mahon, in Delaware.
(The photographs in this set  by Howard Eskin)

A Dunlin, among the Semipalmated Sandpipers.
Another name for the Dunlin, in years gone by, has been the
Red-backed Sandpiper.

Even though there's white on the face,
this Bombay Hook, Delaware bird is not a White-faced Ibis.
But the bird in the following photo is one,
seen in May 2006 in New Jersey.

The Cattle Egret is a "decreasing & rare" bird in Pennsylvania.
They used to nest in large numbers on an island
along the lower Susquehanna River in Lancaster County. No longer.
In April 2006, there have been 10 Cattle Egrets
in Indiana County in western Pennsylvania.
This bird was photographed in eastern Pennsylvania,
in Tullytown, Bucks County, on April 13, 2006, by Howard Eskin.
